General Practitioner Consultations
Our GPs are well known by locals for their open, understanding and friendly approach. You'll feel very comfortable in your consultation, as they are open to any questions you may have. At Casuarina Square Medical Centre, we actively promote general health and preventative medicine, so our GPs will happily provide health education and professional advice. We can also provide medical certificates, referrals and repeat prescriptions—at the discretion of the doctor.
For the youngest members of your family, we have a qualified Paediatrician on site. They are available for consultation on all child health matters, with or without a referral from a GP.
If you have a minor surgical requirement, our doctors can take care of the procedure in the clinic, saving you time and prolonged discomfort. Some examples of the procedures we perform include:
Chronic Disease Management
Casuarina Square Medical Centre aims to assist patients dealing with chronic and lifelong diseases such as diabetes and asthma. Our allied health partners and medical health professionals will work with you to create a health management plan. This plan aims to minimise the effects of the condition on your day-to-day life and potentially prevent more serious episodes. This may include medication, but also involves direct education for patients and their family or associates. Our Practice Nurses undertake General Practice Management Plans (GPMP), Health Assessments and ATSI Health Assessments.
Postnatal & Antenatal Care
If you're expecting or planning to fall pregnant, talk to our GPs regarding proper antenatal care and health monitoring during pregnancy as some of our Doctors offer "Shared Care" with the hospital. It's important to involve your doctor in this process as they can help you plan the birthing arrangement, as well as screening tests and ultrasounds. Our doctors will also provide information about nutritional, diet and lifestyle requirements that may affect your pregnancy.
Our friendly team is here to support you before and after the birth, so it's essential to speak to us about any health concerns you may have.
Immunisations & Travel Vaccines
Before you plan a trip overseas, ensure you're prepared for potential healths risks by speaking to our health professionals. Our doctors offer advice regarding particular diseases and hazards that may be present in the particular part of the world you are visiting. We can then provide the relevant vaccines to protect you against preventable illnesses.
For the sake of your child's and your family's health, it's very important to keep up with their scheduled vaccinations. Bulk billing is available for children under 17. If you have any concerns regarding our immunisation procedures, speak to one of our GPs or nurses. Our centre is also accredited to administer Yellow Fever vaccinations.
Skin Cancer Checks
Every year in Australia, skin cancers account for around 80% of all newly diagnosed cancers according to Cancer Council Australia. With the strong Northern Territory sun, our doctors often see patients with potentially fatal melanomas.
Early detection is our best tool in the fight against skin cancer. That's why we encourage patients to have a skin cancer check at least once every 6 – 12 months. Our doctors are specially trained to identify melanoma, basal and squamous cell carcinoma.
If you've noticed any change in your skin, or abnormal moles or marks, please book a quick and painless skin examination.
Work & Employment Medical Checks
Before you start a new position or undergo training, you may be required to pass certain medical assessments. Casuarina Square Medical Centre is your one-stop clinic to have any of these requirements handled in a timely manner. Our GPs can also provide medical certificates for proof of absence from work.
The following are some of the certificates and assessments that our medical professionals can provide:
Men's & Women's Health Checks
Our doctors provide confidential sexual and reproductive health advice for both men and women. You can feel comfortable discussing any concerns regarding sexual health, fertility, family planning, contraception, or STI tests with our highly professional and understanding doctors and nurses.
For men, we provide prostate and testicular cancer checks, as well as advice regarding vasectomies. And for women, our doctors provide cervical screening and perform Implanon or Mirena insertion and removal.
If you have any questions regarding a particular service, feel free to call, or speak with one of our GPs in person.
